Every religion, whatever it is, begins and comes from a spiritual human experience. What we in Circle of the EarthTM call "a Religious Feeling State." One defining character of a prophet (Buddha, Christ, Moses, Mohamed, etc.) is someone who has that experience.
But the experience is internal. And it is wordless. So, in order to communicate it to others, which is what a prophet wants to do, he/she must transform it into language. It becomes words. And then, those who hear those words tell others what they heard those words to be. And there are more words that are another step removed from the experience. And then, some of those who hear the words write down what they remember. But because each of us hears differently to some extent and because written words often get mis-copied, those words do not always agree. And then, these people die and new people read the words and many have differing opinions as to what the words mean. And so, where it began with a single, unitary internal experience, we now have sects, and scholarly disputation, and disharmony. But we should remember where and how it began.
Now comes the really, really important part. Although one of the jobs of science is to classify everything including we human beings (both psychologically and sociologically) and to describe how things differ, on another important level all members of the human species are the same. Wherever we live on earth, whatever our genetic variations, whatever special circumstances we have in our nurturing, we all have the same basic anatomy and physiology: a human brain, a human posture that moves in a predetermined way, the same relative lifespan, the same dietary needs. This human species structure, in relationship to the general characteristics of our earth home, means that we all have the same life story, the same life problem: to get food and shelter, to continue the race, to die. That is, wherever we live on this earth, whatever we do, we are all members of the human species. We are all the same. THEREFORE, BECAUSE OUR BODY STRUCTURES ARE THE SAME AND BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE THE SAME HUMAN BEING BRAIN WHICH GIVES US THE SAME LIFE STORY, THIS INTERNAL, NON-VERBAL, SPIRITUAL HUMAN EXPERIENCE, THE RELIGIOUS FEELING STATE, IS A UNIVERSAL SPECIES QUALITY. THUS THERE IS ONLY ONE RELIGION: THE SPIRITUAL HUMAN EXPERIENCE. Wordless, internal and unitary. WE ARE ALL ONE.
And finally, just to bring this around, how might we describe in words the internal, non-verbal spiritual experience? The Religious Feeling State. How might we describe the experience that we have had? By exclaiming:
